#bestdecisionever

It was a year ago today that my whole adventure with traveling therapy and Advanced Medical began. A year ago, I was in a job that I loved with amazing coworkers and patients- we really enjoyed northwest Arkansas and had even toyed with the idea of buying a house. The caseload at work got really low, and I started to get worried about my hours getting cut and/or possibly losing my job- I expressed this concern and was told that I should probably look around. So I did. And the rest is history.
I found Advanced Medical through looking at job listings on Indeed.com. We had previously talked about moving to somewhere completely out there like Alaska, and so I was looking at a listing in Anchorage from Advanced. I filled out their "contact me" form on their super handy website, and was informed that I would be contacted by a recruiter soon. The next day I was called by DJ, and he told me all about Advanced Medical and traveling therapy. I had never heard of travel therapy, and I was intrigued, but thought there was no way we could just pick up and move and move every 3 months at that! What a crazy thought.
Braden and I talked about about it extensively and since I had never heard of traveling therapy before, we had a lot of questions. Luckily, DJ answered all my silly questions and was very nice throughout. I randomly met another therapist who worked for Advanced, and she put me in touch with my current recruiter, Amy. Amy was incredibly patient with me as I asked her question after question (a page front and back!) and supportive throughout our decision and moving ordeal.
Working for Advanced Medical has been an incredible experience so far, and I have been so happy with how much they care about and support their therapists. Looking back on a year ago, I thought there was no way we could be travelers, put everything in storage, and move all around the country, but it turns out it was one of the best decisions we have ever made.
Here's to another great year of adventure with Advanced Medical!

  1. Melissa,
Congrats to you on creating such an amazing career path for yourself. We are simply here to provide guidance and support, the rest is up to you. You have gone above and beyond at your current facility, and I am so grateful that you are part of my team. You may not realize this, but you are establishing a national reputation in the therapy world, assignment by assignment, and I have no doubts that you will continue to do amazing things ALL OVER the country. I can't wait to help you get to AK, I am excited about your journey to CA. The possibilities are endless. There is something extremely special about you, and I am just so grateful Diane sent you my way so I had the chance to not only be your recruiter, but your friend. Our entire team at AMPS appreciates you and recognizes the "above and beyond" approach you take with EVERYTHING you do. From your work at the facility, your special projects, helping with marketing, referring other therapists, winning productivity contests, the list goes on; you have found a way to make your "career" meaningful and more than just a "job". Travel therapy is just the beginning for you. I am so happy you are part of our AMPS family. :) Thank you for everything.

Cheers to 1 year! (and to many more to come!)

    Amy :)
